Here are some of mine:
I watch how my barber cuts my hair, and then cut my own, until I can afford to go back and get it done right.
Savings: $10.00 month
Use baking soda and vinegar to wash, and rinse my hair.
I have done this for 2 years, and my hair has never felt so clean, and grown so long! Plus it stays clean alot longer, so I don't have to wash it every day.
Directions: Make a paste of baking soda and water, wet hair, massage baking soda paste into scalp, rinse.
Rinse with vinegar diluted 50/50 with water, rinse with warm water.
I still need to use conditioner to be able to comb it out.
Savings: Hard to figure, you save time, water, and shampoo (some are pretty expensive!)
Cleaning: I have been using vinegar for a long time to clean almost everyting since it is a natural disinfectant, and eliminates the use of harmful, and expensive chemicals.
Vinegar cleans:
1)litter boxes (sprinkle baking soda first), pour in about 1/4 cup of vinegar, scrub with toilet brush, then rinse with hot water
2)countertops
3)smooth surface stovetop
4)toilets (use baking soda first, scrub with toilet brush)
let 1/2 cup of vinegar sit in toilet bowl overnight
5) windows, and glass surfaces: Fill a spray bottle with half white vinegar, and half water
6) pet bowls, pour some white vinegar, add water, let sit overnight for build up from water, or just use a scouring pad with a little vinegar, then rinse with hot water to clean and disinfect
Baking soda will clean, and shine sinks, tubs, and faucets
Use old towels or torn t-shirts to clean with, instead of reaching for the paper towels
Baking:
Save salmon cans to bake muffins or cute little loaves of banana, zuccini, apple, or pumpkin bread
Use tin coffee cans (if you still have any left) to bake bread (easy, no knead homemade bread recipe will be in the next section)
Bake extra, wrap a few in plastic wrap, and freeze in case you need a quick snack, or gift.
Bake your own natural dog and cat treats (recipe will be in the next section)
